The globalization of the business world has been intensified by new information technologies. By providing all stakeholders with necessary and useful answers to the problems that arise, this technology has significantly changed behaviors and facilitated the rapid assessment of economic and commercial risks. Through its application, it has shaped global entrepreneurship in general and that of Mali in particular. SMEs must adapt to this new order in order not to disappear. The motivation that led us to choose this theme is not only in an exploratory and descriptive perspective, but also explanatory and decision-making assistance. It also aims to identify the causes of the problem of the short life expectancy of SMEs and to propose solutions to this issue. Our study led us to 200 SMEs in order to collect statistical data as well as information relating to their mode of operation and management. The results obtained have pinpointed a number of causes, the main ones being: insufficient funding, high corruption, cultural nepotism, and unfair competition, difficult and poorly adapted institutional environment.
